“As is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm, as is the atom, so is the universe, as is the human mind, so is the cosmic mind.” – Deepak Chopra

AS ABOVE SO BELOW

The video below looks like a science fiction but it is not.
The mantis you see in this video is infected and controlled by the horsehair worms which have infected the prey and have modified its brain chemistry.

The host ends up being manipulated like a doll under the control of the parasite which has hijacked its metabolic and nerve processes and it does exactly what it wants. When the mantis comes in contact with the water the worm crawls out as it smells the mating season.

This example shows how extensive the foreign control capabilities of parasites are.

If we accept this premise then the next question would be quite obvious.

Can this happen to us, human beings?

My personal and professional experience says yes, it absolutely can happen and it is happening but I’ll leave it to you to make your own opinion. After all, we are free to think and believe whatever it pleases us, aren’t we?

HUMAN PARASITE?

Before you take any conclusion you may want to take some time and read the following extract from the book the Active Side Of Infinity, published in 1998 and written by Carlos Castañeda  [1].

Some people claim that this book is just a product of the author’s vivid imagination. And even if that would be true, do we know what imagination really is? On the other hand one cannot help but wonder how come similar information can be found in many old written sources and orally transmitted stories throughout our history.

Conversation between Don Juan, the Mexican Yaqui Indian shaman and Carlos Castañeda:

“We have a predator that came from the depths of the cosmos and took over the rule of our lives. Human beings are its prisoners. The Predator is our lord and master. It has rendered us docile, helpless. If we want to protest, it suppresses our protest. If we want to act independently, it demands that we don’t do so… I have been beating around the bush all this time, insinuating to you that something is holding us prisoner. Indeed we are held prisoner!“

Why has this predator taken over in the fashion that you’re describing, don Juan?” I asked. “There must be a logical explanation.”

“There is an explanation,” don Juan replied, “which is the simplest explanation in the world. They took over because we are food for them, and they squeeze us mercilessly because we are their sustenance. Just as we rear chickens in chicken coops, gallineros, the predators rear us in human coops, humaneros. Therefore, their food is always available to them.”

“But how can they do this, don Juan?” “Do they whisper all that in our ears while we are asleep?”

“No, they don’t do it that way. That’s idiotic!” don Juan said, smiling. “They are infinitely more efficient and organized than that. “In order to keep us obedient, meekand weak, the predators engaged themselves in a stupendous maneuver- stupendous,of course, from the point of view of a fighting strategist; a horrendous manoeuvre from the point of view of those who suffer it. They gave us their mind! Do you hear me? The predators give us their mind which becomes our mind. The predators’ mind is baroque, contradictory, morose, and filled with the fear of being discovered any minute now.”

“I know that even though you have never suffered hunger,” he went on, “you have food anxiety which is none other than the anxiety of the predator who fears that anymoment now its maneuver is going to be uncovered, and its food is going to be denied. Through the mind, which after all is their mind, the predators inject into the lives of human beings whatever is convenient for them. The predators ensure in this manner a degree of security to act as a buffer against their fear.”

“There’s nothing that you and I can do about it,” don Juan said in a grave, sad voice.“All we can do is discipline ourselves to the point where they will not touch us.

“This predator,” don Juan said, “which, of course, is an inorganic being, is not altogether invisible to us as other inorganic beings are. I think as children we do see it, but we decide it’s so horrific that we don’t want to think about it. Children, of course, could insist on focusing on the sight, but everybody else around them dissuades them from doing so. The only alternative left for mankind is discipline. Discipline is the only deterrent. But by discipline I don’t mean harsh routines. I don’t mean waking up everymorning at five-thirty and throwing cold water on yourself until you’re blue. Sorcerers understand discipline as the capacity to face with serenity odds that are not included in our expectations. For sorcerers, discipline is an art; the art of facing infinity without flinching; not because they are strong and tough, but because they are filled with awe.”

WHO’S IN CONTROL?

Is there something external manipulating us?
Are we really the last link of the food chain? Are we really  in control of our minds and of our emotions?

We are much more complex beings than the official paradigm is telling us.
We are also much more powerful beings that we have been lead to believe. There are innumerable documented cases of people that have overcome illnesses which were “impossible to cure” (such is the case of dr. Jerry Tennant). We all know of athletes that have achieved results that no-one before them was capable of. People that have been labeled as not very bright have become excellent motivational speakers (see the story of Les Brown). Have you heard the story about Jim Kwik, a world expert in speed-reading, memory improvement and optimal brain performance? As a kid he was labeled as a boy with a broken brain!

In the book Don Juan says, “all we can do is discipline ourselves”.  Is there any easy simple way for doing it?

HOW TO “DISCIPLINE” YOURSELF?

Some call this discipline an Art of Being an Observer. Some call it a practice of Being Present. And some call it a Point Zero state.

When you decide to observe and to not react in an impulsive manner, in other words to be in point zero, you start to see a different picture of what is going on. More you will train yourself more you will be able to see the action for what it is and to choose your reaction accordingly.

Every time you react to another you’re reacting to someone else’s reality. When you notice a reaction in yourself pause for a moment and observe yourself and the other party without judging. Then take a big breath and say to yourself: I don’t need that anymore, and blow it off and clear it.

While you are in action-and-reaction it is like you would be swinging in the pendulum back and forth and you cannot move forward in time. You’re reacting to realities of other people and keeping yourself stuck in time. At point zero you are the observer and you are observing the games for what they are, which in turn empowers you and allows you to move forward.

Do you have moments when you struggle to be in control of your mind?

Then start practicing. It’s all about practice. Repeat, repeat and repeat.. over and over again. Until it becomes natural.

And to make it even easier I have written a short “cheat sheet” of 7 Steps For Being Present and what to be aware of.
There are no excuses anymore! Start and your life will never be the same again.

Let me know how you’re doing. I would love to hear your stories of success! ;)
